Roast Profile: Medium dark
Flavor Profile: Rich, medium acidity, great aroma with chocolate and floral notes
Certification: Organic, fair trade, shade grown
This organic, fair trade, and shade-grown coffee is produced by small-scale family farmers from Peru’s Chanchamayo region. Cooperative La Florida was established in 1966, starting with only 50 members. Over the years, the cooperative has continued to grow and has provided many needed benefits for these families, such as education, better infrastructure, credit, healthcare services, and environmental restoration to this remote corner of the Peruvian jungle.
La Florida’s commitment to environmental protection has led it to educate farmers on how to protect the soil from erosion, how to retain moisture, and how to restore soil fertility. Members believe it is vital to support the natural ecosystem, as it is home to many different species of insects, birds, and animals.
